In September 2007 Jump.co.za sent a survey to 750 South African online merchants of whom 125 completed it and the results very interesting.
There was a lot of interest regarding the results of the survey as this had never been done before in South Africa. A lot of time was spent making sure that relevant questions were included that would yield relevant results.
Essentially the aim of the survey was to find out what South African online stores are all about and what their opinions are regarding E-Commerce in South Africa. The survey was divided into 4 sections, namely; About Your Store, Your Website, Marketing Your Store and E-Commerce in South Africa.
Some of the results were very interesting such as 61% of the stores mentioned that they only employ 1-3 people and 51% of the stores are less than 2 years old. A summary of the results and all the questions with their answers are available for download at: 2007 South African E-Commerce Survey
